It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Coconut oil is not only a healthy cooking fat that is a perfect replacement for butters and oils. It is also a valued cosmetic that is suitable for facial skin, body and hair care.

Coconut oil is talked about in many different ways. Its use for frying and cooking does not arouse enthusiasm in everyone. One thing is for sure. Coconut oil is one of the healthiest fats in the world, which is ideal for body and hair care.

The source of coconut oil is the coconut palm tree. The fat changes consistency when exposed to temperature. At room temperature, it has a solid form and is snow white. When heated, it becomes a liquid with a yellow color and a delicate coconut scent.

Coconut oil – a superfood

Coconut oil is one of the products that go under the common name of superfoods. Superfoods are unprocessed substances that contain vitamins and nutrients that are great for the human body. When wanting to choose the best version of coconut oil for skin care, always opt for the unrefined one. It contains much more nutrients. However, it is not suitable for cooking.

Coconut oil for skin care

Coconut oil is ideal for use directly on the skin – as a body lotion, face cream or as a make-up remover. The undoubted advantage is its price. Coconut oil costs only a dozen or so zlotys, and we get a product with versatile use. It also does not require further processing. It is enough to take an appropriate amount of the product with your hand/stick and massage it into your skin. The oil will dissolve in your hands under the influence of body temperature. Its spreading on the body will not be problematic.

Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid. This saturated fat is great for fighting bacteria, viruses and fungi. Coconut oil is also rich in vitamins C, E, B and minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and zinc. All this makes coconut oil perfectly moisturizes and regenerates the skin. It also copes with inflammation, acne or minor wounds.

Coconut oil makes the skin well moisturized and protects it from moisture loss. It also makes it firmer, tighter and more elastic. The oil also neutralizes the effects of free radicals.

Coconut oil for hair

Coconut oil is great for hair and scalp care. It is a product that is perfect for oiling the hair. The only thing you won’t like about coconut oil is the high porosity hair – the coconut oil will make your hair frizzy. Hair owners with medium or low-pored hair should be pleased with the results. Their hair will become soft, shiny and deeply moisturized.

Coconut oil can also be applied directly to the scalp. Massaging a small amount of fat into the head will strengthen the roots, cleanse the scalp of excess sebum and help fight dandruff.

Home-made cosmetics with coconut oil

The simplest cosmetic that we can make ourselves, and its base is coconut oil, is a scrub. To prepare a scrub you will need: sugar in crystals, coconut oil, a pinch of cinnamon, honey and lemon juice. So prepared scrub can be used to exfoliate the skin of the body, legs or lips.

We can add a few drops of tea tree oil to the coconut oil and in this way prepare an anti-acne mask.
