Even the most expensive mascaras have a tendency to dry out long before the manufacturer’s recommended wear date. However, there are a few simple ways to resuscitate our mascara.
Why do mascaras dry out?
It’s a bit of our own fault. Mascara dries when it comes in contact with air. So if you keep the tube open for a long time while you apply mascara, repeatedly wet the brush with each application, move it up and down the container, and don’t close the mascara tightly after you’re done, that’s why your mascara dries quickly. Plus, dried-on mascara residue on a long-uncleaned brush makes mascara thick and full of hard clumps. If you try to limit these practices, your mascara will stay fresh longer.
How to save dried mascara?
Here are some proven ways to resurrect your mascara for about two weeks.
Boil water and along your mascara in it for a few minutes. This should improve its consistency. If this treatment doesn’t work, add a few drops of oil or water to the tube. This is one of the safest ways because it doesn’t affect the chemical composition of the product.
Eye drops or lens solution is another way that you can use. They contain substances that are safe and do not irritate the structure of the eye. Add a few drops to the tube and then shake it or roll it in your hands to mix everything well. This will not work for waterproof mascaras.
You can also add other cosmetics to your mascara, like micellar lotion or moisten the brush itself before each application. However, this is not always a good idea as the ingredients in different products may react differently when mixed together.
There are also special preparations available on the market, which prolong the life of cosmetics. One of them is a multifunctional liquid by Inglot. Add a few drops to the tube of mascara and then roll it in your hands. Your mascara will be like new.
